How Storyfold handles your stories, AI requests, purchases, and choices.

Last updated: October 5, 2026

Your device and your stories

Storyfold currently has no online user account. Your profile, library, reading progress, settings, Star Coin balance, covers, scene images, and story versions are saved in the app’s storage on your device. Each version keeps its name, passages, and choices. Storyfold does not automatically publish or cloud-sync these stories. Exported files are subject to the storage and sharing choices you make.

What AI features send

After you allow AI processing, prompts and relevant story context are sent to Caitty’s backend for creation, continuation, rewriting, summaries, or image preparation. This can include your premise, role, preceding passages, choices, and typed actions. Your configured display name can be included in story and optional voice-conversation requests so the scene can address you by name. System read-aloud processes the selected text on the device and does not send it to a narration provider. Optional voice conversations can send your audio and the context needed to respond.

Service providers

Caitty uses Cloudflare for hosting, delivery, AI Gateway, and Workers AI. Text generation uses DeepSeek through Cloudflare AI Gateway. Covers and scene photos use Workers AI with FLUX. Story read-aloud uses the device’s iOS or Android system text-to-speech engine; Android requests a downloaded local voice rather than sending narration text to a cloud voice service. Separate optional iOS voice conversations may use Google Cloud Text-to-Speech or Fish Audio, and voice input may use Workers AI Whisper. These providers process information needed for the features you request under their applicable policies. Provider changes are reflected in app consent and this page.

Consent and optional permissions

The first-run AI notice explains what is sent and lets you choose whether to allow processing. AI creation and optional voice conversations require that permission. System read-aloud does not upload your passage and does not require microphone permission. Other device permissions are requested for the relevant feature and can be managed in Settings.

Purchases and advertising

Apple handles purchases and subscriptions on iOS; Google Play handles them on Android. Storyfold receives product and transaction information needed to deliver Star Coins and membership benefits and to avoid crediting the same purchase twice. Caitty does not receive your full payment-card details. Prices, billing periods, and renewal terms come from the store’s purchase screen.

Rewarded ads are optional. The current default is 15 Star Coins after Google AdMob reports that the ad reward was earned; starting an ad, closing it early, or an unavailable ad does not grant a reward. Google AdMob and its consent tools may process device identifiers, advertising information, app interactions, diagnostic information, and approximate location inferred from an IP address according to your consent settings and their policies. You can decline iOS tracking and manage applicable advertising consent in the app. Ad availability varies.

Operational data and retention

Hosting and service providers may process technical data such as IP addresses, request times, error information, and usage needed to operate their services. The backend can cache generated audio and shared catalogue translations to deliver those features efficiently. Content reports you submit are stored separately from your local library and are configured to expire after 90 days. Service-provider retention depends on their applicable settings and policies; this policy does not promise that processing leaves no records.

Sharing and PDFs

The app’s story invitation share passes promotional text and the Storyfold website link to the system share sheet. It does not upload your story to a public Storyfold page. The daily invitation reward uses the system’s eligible share signal: an iOS share-completion callback or an Android chooser’s selected destination. Selecting an Android destination does not confirm that a message was sent or delivered; Storyfold cannot see what you do inside the receiving app. Canceling the chooser and its copy, save, or print actions do not qualify. Sharing a PDF or photo does not earn the invitation reward.

Sharing a scene photo passes the selected image, invitation text, and website link to the system share sheet. On iOS, choosing Save photo requests add-only photo-library access. On Android, choosing Save photo saves through the system’s media storage; older Android versions may require a storage permission. Storyfold does not browse your photo library to save a generated image. Choosing a replacement book cover uses the system photo picker. AI cover and description regeneration sends selected book context to the generation providers described above.

PDF export creates a file containing the story passages and attached photos you have generated in the selected version. Unwritten chapters are not generated for export. Sharing that file gives the recipient its contents. Files saved or shared outside the app remain subject to the location, destination app, and recipients you choose.

Deleting data and contacting us

You can delete individual sections from the current version. Their prompts, passages, and attached images are removed from that version; images referenced by another saved version remain available there. Deleting a book removes its local reading history, saved versions, and bookmarks. Deleting a built-in book hides it from the local library rather than removing the app’s bundled catalogue.

The app’s Delete My Account action is a local reset: Storyfold has no online user account. It clears the local profile, custom stories, book edits, reading history and bookmarks, images, Star Coin balance, and settings, and returns the library to its initial catalogue. On Android, previously fulfilled paid-purchase identifiers remain in the local wallet ledger to prevent the same purchase from being granted again. The reset does not delete exported copies, files saved to your photo library, messages sent elsewhere, previously submitted content reports, or provider records.

Deleting local data does not cancel a subscription or submit a payment-refund request. Use the store that billed you: Apple subscription help or Google Play subscription help. For a privacy question or a request concerning information held by Caitty, contact [email protected]. Include only the information needed to identify your request.

Younger readers and policy changes

Storyfold offers story ratings and a setting for younger readers. Mature content requires age confirmation and is intended for adults. Do not submit personal information about children. We may update this policy when features, providers, or data handling change; the current version is published here with its update date.
