Melokey is developed by Caitty. We believe in privacy by design: all piano audio synthesis, rhythm gameplay, and score tracking occur entirely on your device. This policy outlines how information is handled.
1. Data Kept on Your Device
- No Melokey Account Required: You can use free songs, Free Play and introductory lessons without registering. Optional purchases use your Apple or Google store account.
- Local Song Progress: Your high scores, star ratings, unlocked lessons, and preferences are stored exclusively in local device storage.
- No Microphone Access: Melokey generates piano notes internally using an additive audio synthesizer and never requests microphone or audio recording permissions.
2. Advertising & Third-Party Services
iOS version 1.0 does not include an advertising or analytics SDK. Starting with iOS version 1.1, iOS and Android use Google AdMob for optional rewarded ads and interstitial ads. Google's advertising SDK may collect and share device identifiers, IP-derived approximate location, app interactions, diagnostics and performance information to serve ads, measure delivery and prevent fraud.
Where required, the app presents Google's consent form before requesting ads. If additional privacy choices are available for your region, open Settings > Ad Privacy Choices to review or change them. Rewarded ads are optional and can unlock a song, advanced lesson or video export. An Internet connection is required to load ads. On iOS, Melokey requests non-personalized ads and does not request access to your advertising identifier through an App Tracking Transparency permission prompt.

3. Purchases and Restoration
VIP purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. Lifetime VIP is a one-time purchase; weekly, monthly and yearly VIP plans, where available, are auto-renewing subscriptions. Melokey does not receive or store your payment card details. The app checks purchase records supplied by the store to verify access, acknowledge purchases where required and restore an existing purchase. It does not upload your piano notes, scores or purchase tokens to a Melokey server.
4. Recordings, Sharing and Deletion
Recordings capture the notes you play on the app keyboard; they do not capture your microphone. Sheet music and performance videos are generated locally. When you choose a destination in your device's share sheet, the selected file is passed to that destination. Its privacy policy then applies. Removing the app removes its local scores and preferences; files you saved or shared separately remain in those locations until you delete them there.
5. Children's Privacy
Melokey is intended for general music practice and is not specifically directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact support so we can investigate. Parents and guardians can use their store's purchase controls to manage in-app spending.
