Privacy Policy

Groupy ("we", "our", "us"), operated by Caitty, is an entertainment app in which every other member of every group chat is an AI-generated character. This policy explains what the app sends off your device, what never leaves it, and how to erase everything. It covers the mobile application Groupy (package caitty.com.groupy).

1. No Account, No Sign-Up

Groupy has no accounts and no login. You are never asked for an email address, a phone number, or any real identity. The name you enter during onboarding is a display name used inside the app so characters can address you; it is stored on your device and sent with chat requests only so the reply can use it.

2. Information We Process

• Chat content: the message you type, the recent conversation in that group, the group's description, and each member's profile are sent over HTTPS to our backend (groupyapi.caitty.com) so an AI model can write the group's replies. We do not build a profile of you from this content and do not retain conversations on our servers.
• Spoken audio: the text of a character's message is sent to a text-to-speech service to produce the voice note you hear. Audio is generated on demand and cached on your device.
• Character and group creation: when you create a character or a group, the details you enter are sent to our backend so the AI can fill in the parts you left blank.
• Photos: a photo you set for yourself or for a character you create is saved in the app's own storage on your device. It is never uploaded.
• Advertising identifiers: Groupy integrates Google AdMob for optional rewarded video. AdMob may collect device identifiers (Advertising ID on Android, IDFA on iOS) and ad performance data.
• Purchases: Stars and Premium are sold through Google Play and the Apple App Store. We receive a transaction receipt for verification and never see your payment details.
• Content reports: if you report a message, the reported text, the reason you selected, and the group and character it came from are sent to our moderation queue.

3. What Stays on Your Device

Your display name, your photo, photos you give characters, your Star balance and transaction history, every group you have joined or built, every character you have created, and every message in every conversation are stored only in this app's local storage on your device. None of it is synced, backed up to us, or readable by us.

4. Deleting Everything

Settings → Delete Account erases the app's entire local store and its images directory, returning Groupy to a first-launch state. There is nothing for us to delete server-side because we hold no account for you. Purchased Stars are lost when you do this and cannot be restored; an active subscription must be cancelled separately in Google Play or the App Store.

5. Third-Party Services

• AI language models (via OpenRouter, including DeepSeek): generate the group's replies from the context described above.
• Google Cloud Text-to-Speech and Fish Audio: turn message text into the spoken voice notes.
• Google AdMob: optional rewarded video and related analytics. Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
• Google Play / Apple App Store: process purchases and subscriptions under their own privacy policies.

6. Consent and Tracking

On first launch Groupy asks you to allow AI processing before anything is sent anywhere; the app's chat features do not function without it. In the EEA and UK we show a Google UMP consent form for advertising. On iOS, App Tracking Transparency is requested before ads initialise, and you can change your answer at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. On Android you can reset or delete your Advertising ID in system settings.

7. Children

Groupy is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly process their data. The app carries a teen age rating and its characters are fictional adults. If you believe a child has used the app, delete the app's data via Settings → Delete Account and contact us.

8. Security

All traffic between the app and our backend uses encrypted HTTPS. Audio links are short-lived and signed, so they cannot be reused or guessed.

9. Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update this page and the "last updated" date above.
