Are the characters real people?
No. Every member of every group is generated by an AI language model. They are not real people, they have no memory outside the app, and nothing they say is fact-checked. Historical and mythological figures are dramatisations, not the real person.
Why does everyone send voice notes?
Each character has their own text-to-speech voice, so a message arrives as a voice note with the text underneath — read it in silence or tap play to hear it. The first few in each group play free; after that, playback costs Stars.
Can I make my own group?
Yes. Name it, describe what it's about, and pick two to six members. You can invite characters you create yourself — give them a name, a photo and a voice, and the AI writes the rest.
What are Stars?
Stars are the in-app currency. They pay for sending messages, voice playback, unlocking groups and creating characters. You start with a welcome balance, earn more with a daily check-in, and can buy more or subscribe to Premium for a monthly grant and no ads. Premium members still spend Stars — the subscription is the grant and the ad removal, not unlimited use.
Which languages does Groupy support?
Twelve: English, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Malay and Hungarian. Group replies and the spoken audio both follow the language you choose in Settings.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
Your messages and the group's context are sent to our backend so AI providers can write the replies, and message text goes to a text-to-speech service to produce the audio. Your name, your photo, photos you give a character, your Stars and every conversation stay on your device only.
Is there an age limit?
Groupy is intended for users 13 and older, and app-store age ratings apply. If a message ever crosses a line, long-press it and report it — reports go straight to moderation.
