About the Periodic Table

The periodic table is a tabular arrangement of chemical elements organized by their atomic number, electron configuration, and recurring chemical properties. Elements are presented in order of increasing atomic number.

The table has rows called periods and columns called groups. Elements in the same group have similar chemical behaviors. The standard form consists of 18 groups, with the lanthanides and actinides shown separately below the main body.
