Privacy Policy

Lingua ("we", "us") is an online translation tool operated by Caitty at caitty.com/translate. This policy explains what we handle and why. We aim to collect as little as possible.

Text you translate

When you translate, the text you enter is sent over an encrypted connection to our translation service (a Cloudflare Worker) and forwarded to Google Cloud Translation to produce the result. We do not store the text you translate or the results on our servers; they are processed in transit only and discarded after the response is returned. Google processes the text under its own terms as our translation provider. Please do not paste highly sensitive information (for example passwords or full payment card numbers) into any online translator.

Usage limits

To keep the free service sustainable and prevent abuse, we count the number of characters translated per day. For anonymous (free) use this counter is keyed to a hashed form of your network address; for Pro it is keyed to your license. These counters store only a number and a date, not your text.

Payments and Pro

Pro subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. After payment, we generate a license key derived from your Stripe subscription. Your subscription email and license key are stored locally in your browser so Pro stays unlocked; they are sent to our service only to verify your subscription.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate, anonymous usage (such as page views and general location) so we can improve the product. Analytics does not receive the text you translate. You can block analytics with browser settings or extensions.

Local storage

We use your browser's local storage to remember your chosen target language and your Pro status. This data stays on your device and is not a tracking cookie.

Your choices

You can clear local storage at any time through your browser to remove saved preferences and Pro status. To cancel a Pro subscription, use the link in your Stripe receipt.
