Privacy Policy

Markdown Editor (the "Service") is operated by Caitty and available at caitty.com/markdown-editor. This policy explains what data the Service handles and how.
Your documents stay on your device
Everything you write in Markdown Editor — your documents, drafts, titles, and editor preferences — is stored locally in your browser using localStorage. Your content is never transmitted to or stored on our servers. Parsing, live preview, autosave, theme switching, and HTML and PDF export all run entirely in your browser.
Clearing your data
Because your content lives in your browser, clearing your browser storage for this site, using private/incognito mode, or switching browsers or devices will remove or hide your saved documents. Export important work to a .md or HTML file to keep a copy.
Payments
If you upgrade to Pro, payment is processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not collect or store your card or Alipay details. Stripe handles your payment information under its own privacy policy. After a successful payment, our license endpoint confirms the Stripe session and returns a license key derived from your purchase; we store only what is required to validate that key, such as your checkout email within Stripe.
License activation
When you activate Pro or when the app periodically re-checks an active subscription, your checkout email and license key are sent to our license endpoint (markdown-editor-api.caitty.com) so it can verify the purchase with Stripe. These values are also stored locally in your browser so Pro stays unlocked.
Third-party services
The Service loads a small number of third-party scripts: the Markdown rendering libraries (marked and DOMPurify) and the Stripe.js library for checkout. These are loaded from their respective content delivery networks.
